American Haidakhan Samaj
Truth Simplicity & Love
Blessings and greetings from Salvatore and Sarena Morello and their daughter, Sasha, Richard Cahall, and Madeleine and Lynn Bcchner of the Delray Beach, Florida Shri Haidakhandi Babaji Center called Harmony House, est. 1994. which is Sal and Sarena's home.
We have hosted AARTI once a month since 1994, and miracle of all miracles, we have never missed a month even though we do travel. 98% of the time Sal and Sarena are both present and at least one of them has been present every time.. Now that we have established this 12 year record, we have to keep it up.
For many years it was once a month on Sunday evening and we would have 5 to 30 people each time and it was always uniquely different. One time we would have all women, another time it would be international with as many as 8 to 10 countries represented, etc. It has always been "the highlight" of our month. The way I put it is that "once a month our home turns into a Temple". We had started doing ceremony when we lived in our last house in Boca Raton so when we were moving to Delray Beach we knew we wanted the right space, and our current home has a 30' by 50' living room so we can easily accommodate 55 people in our lavender living room. Half of the room has no technology and that is where the altar is located with carpeting so people can sit on the floor. The other half does have a television and stereo and wood flooring which is great for dancing.
We have hosted Ram Loti and Prem several times for which we are so honored and grateful . A very big event was when Hari Govind, Pujari, Joker, Angelo and others stopped here on their American tour in the 90's. We have hosted and produced Turkantam in concert twice - 1993 (the year after Hurricane Andrew hit Florida as a Category 5), and in 1998. In 1993, we hosted concerts in four communities from Miami to Palm Beach and we believe he strung the white light up and down the coastline. We did not have a hurricane for ten years. It is time for him to revisit. We are into Native American energy and a highlight one year was hosting Pba-Quen-Nee-ee (Blue Spruce Standing Deer- at the time the Medicine Carrier of the Taos, New Mexico pueblo) at his drum with Turkantam. It was the first time in his life Turkantam had met a Native American elder. Three years ago, Ram Loti, Prem and Pujari graced us with a Sacred Fire Ceremony workshop and Sarena suggested, "Why don't we start doing it?" And so it was - we started doing Sacred Fire Ceremony. We met Richard Cahall and Anna Louise and we had a community doing the Sacred Fire. We changed the time from Sunday evening to Sunday morning at 8:30 am which dropped off a lot of people - most in fact, but Shri Babaji always said, quantity was not as important as quality of people.
Sarena has always been "the networker" and it is her job to get everyone here and she does it the old fashioned way - by telephone. Once a month on Sat. morning usually starting at 8:45 am she goes to the sign in book (we have over 1000 names by now), and she calls everyone to remind them. It takes two to three hours and it is very enjoyable. It gives her the opportunity to personally touch base with each person and get caught up on their life which is not always possible the night or morning of the AARTI. We used to have flyers, but that is not necessary any longer, and we have never advertised. It's important to keep a low profile and stay beneath the radar in respect to our neighbors .
Our evenings always featured a huge, delicious pot luck dinner - the spreads were picture perfect - I think some folks came for the food. Now in the morning we serve a brunch pot luck and it's a small enough group that we can all sit around the dining room table and eat on Sarena's mom's china which is very special to Sarena.
The present ceremony consists of the Sacred Fire which Salvatore organizes..Richard has been very helpful each time with Sal and together they make the outside happen. The whole weekend is pretty much devoted to Shri Babaji and Divine Mother. Sarena shops on Friday night for food, we stay home Saturday night and get the house and food ready, and Sunday is the ceremony. We wake up early on Sunday and Salvatore goes outside to get the fire, flowers ready (all the flowers are from our garden as is a lot of the fruit - mangoes, avocado, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, papaya), etc. while Sarena starts getting the Sacred tray and altar ready until people start arriving to help. Madeleine, bless her heart, has been so supportive and helpful on every level - organizational, supplies, computer skills, emotional sharing, etc.
We have a donation basket at the front door and a sign- in book. We have never kept any portion of the money for Harmony House. For years it was tithed equally between Malmo and Colorado and now it is exclusively sent to Colorado. What we spend on the weekend which used to be about $150. and is now closer to $80. is our seva.
Two years ago Sarena and Madeleine created a visualization for World Peace and Environmental Healing and Balance based on Shri Babaji's instruction that Om Namaha Shivaya was more powerful than ......... It was circulated internationally by email to about 35 countries in 2005 . Ram Loti suggested doing it the first Sunday of Fall Navaratri at 10:08 am local time and that indeed is what we did. It is a very generic prayer and it was recited around the world on the same day, at the same time, for the same purpose. The purpose was two- fold : WORLD PEACE and ENVIRONMENTAL HEALING AND BALANCE. And because it was local time, it turned out to be a 24 -hour visualization. Sarena practices Mindbody Medicine professionally, and visualization is a primary tool for manifestation. It feels really good to participate in this process which now takes place twice a year during Fall and Spring Navaratri. Emails were received from Estonia, Slovenia, Poland, Japan, Italy, Holland and others.
In August, 2006 Melinda Staley toured the south eastern centers and made a visit to Harmony House which was totally awesome. She did an evening program - "Living Life with Divine Mother in your Heart" and a morning Sacred Fire Ceremony and everyone loved it. Her visit came at a time when attendance was really dwindling and we were looking at the possibility that maybe the time for this program had run its course. With her visit, everything turned around and the signs were unmistakably supportive of our continuing this program and even making it stronger. Her visit was a significant turning point in the life of the Delray Center. Following her visit in August we hosted the most beautiful and largest turnout for Sunday morning Sacred Fire - we had 28 beautiful people spanning all generations - from 25 to our most senior visitor - Alf who is 91 - he is a teacher of Qigong. It was the first time Charda, Jeffrey and Nathan Solomon visited from Treasure Island, West Coast and it was wonderful meeting them. We all got along so beautifully and we are looking forward to visiting them in January when Ram Loti and Prem re-visit us. We are energetically establishing a grid across the state of Florida and another across the country with Saradambe and Dana in California.
In October, Richard was out of town and Salvatore turned out to be the only male present with all beautiful goddesses - we did the 108 phrases to Divine Mother and listened to Nina Hagen's music - it was different and lovely. We are envisioning a concert with Nina Hagen and Turkantam and Marko coming to the States in 2007. It is time to reconnect and chant and pray and sing and dance and love and raise the vibration of the whole country. We are very drawn to honoring the Sacred Feminine in all her Divine forms.
It is our honor to be hosting this Sacred energy in our very home. We know we are making a contribution to ourselves, our family, our community, our state, our country, our hemisphere, our world in the name of God. Life is good and we are blessed. Om Namaha Shivaya......
